What We Carry Field Notes Our Story Get in Touch

Our Story

FleetFeel Cart started because Lars couldn't find a single place in Essen to buy a decent scooter, a decent bag, and someone who actually used both. The shops either carried everything or nothing, and the staff at the larger cycling retailers hadn't commuted on a scooter in their lives.

That was 2019. We registered the company in the spring, started sourcing products in May, and made our first sales in September. Most of the early customers were people Lars knew from cycling groups around Essen, who passed the name to colleagues who also commuted.

How it works now

We don't have a storefront. Orders come through the contact form. We operate from the Eleonorastraße address, which is a small commercial space that's big enough for stock and not much else. Local customers can collect there; for deliveries within Germany we use DHL and DPD.

The catalogue changes slowly. We add a product when something proves itself in use, and remove things when a clearly better option appears at the same price. We've removed two scooter models and one bag line since 2019. It's not as clean as we'd like it to sound — both times involved stock we'd already committed to — but we got there.

We write the Field Notes ourselves. They're not written to sell specific products. Most of them exist because we've had the same conversation with multiple customers and it seemed more useful to write it down once.

What we don't do

We don't run paid advertising. We haven't since the first month, when we tried it briefly and found it generated the wrong kind of enquiry. We don't have affiliate relationships with any brand we stock. We don't take commission from suppliers for putting their products first.

We make money by selling gear at a margin. That's it. If something in the catalogue is there, it's because we think it's worth carrying — not because anyone is paying us to say so.
